Have you heard the song dancing towards you from the golden prairies beyond this world? 〰️

We hear a lot about spiritual journeys and often it can sound mystical and unaccessible. Human hearts are beautiful vessels that seem to have something in common: the quest for truth and meaning. We hunger to know why we exist and to find belonging.

So I am here writing to encourage you to hunger even stronger and dance towards these questions with a confidence that you will be answered!

I have hungered for truth and belonging for as long as I can remember and grew up in religion. I didn’t find the answers to my longings in religion, it felt empty and void of passion and rest; but I heard of a man, an ancient story that captured the depths of me. It wasn’t until years later in my early twenties, when life took an unexpected detour, that I delved much deeper into the spiritual determined to find answers. I ached.

I became very sick, with CFS/ME and for years spent time in isolation away from the hustle of life. Stillness: my worst nightmare but space for the Divine to find me. I’m not that fascinated with the spiritual for the sake of an experience, but hungry to find Truth… whatever that is!

The man they spoke about in religion suddenly seemed real to my heart, something that is hard to explain in our limited language of words. But I found he was a person as real as me, someone I could actually know like I know my closest friends. His name was Jesus. Someone most people have heard of and may even have an idea or opinion about already. This is what I found, and I believe it’s the reason we exist. Come on a spiritual, poetic journey with me….

Perhaps the Creator of all beauty longs for beautiful friendship with us, the most.

Beauty began to mesmerise me. Have you ever thought about beauty? It exists for no obvious purpose. The sea swells and light dances on its waves, sparkling as it goes. The leaves of the trees twirl in the breeze and the sun on your face is like a comforting kiss, FOR NO OBVIOUS PURPOSE! I started asking why. Why does beauty exist for no other reason than to exist. I started looking to the Maker. God is not hard to believe in when you sit with nature for a moment. Infact, our culture and country is one of the rare countries in the world where it isn’t normal to believe in God. To most of the world, God is a given. (I have a theory hehe: they see the stars brighter than us, light pollution pfft, and how could they not believe seeing those firey lights in the sky every night!) I started seeing the man I had heard of, in everything beautiful. He was the Beauty, his voice reflected in everything he had made. Jesus, so beautiful and no longer just a historical man, but God… the ones who in love, wove my being, my unique soul, and placed in every human a hunger for the more. A hunger for the Beautiful.

I found that I had chosen a way of life that was contrary to his beautiful way of life, his purity and perfect, perfect love for humanity, for me and for you. I had chosen to hurt myself and others and he would never do that. I had lied and compromised trust in relationships and he would never do that. I had thought about my self more than I had loved others around me and he could never do that. And his way of life seemed much sweeter and more freeing. He was the sun and I was a wildflower, longing to dance in his rays, carefree and at rest, loved so deeply for who I was despite my ways that were contrary to his.

And I heard all I had to do to belong to Love again, was accept the beautiful ancient story that he humbly came to Earth, to his beloved creation; and he, being perfect love and perfect justice, took all the punishment for every way I had contributed pain to a world that is clearly very hurting and broken. He died; a perfect heart, killed as if a criminal and then rose as the eternal God he is, defeating the space between humans and the Beautiful One who made us. All his lovely idea.

I am more confident than ever that this is why we exist, to belong to Perfect Love. That opening our hearts to this Jesus, the man who is God, was the only thing needed to rest and belong to the beautiful Father and Spirit, who is Beauty and purest Love and everything we’d ever dreamt of. That a spacious land exists within us that becomes a Home for the Father of all Creation, the One who knows us deeply, and LOVES us deeply.

This is truth. We were created to dance in his Light. His heart is Home to us, and believing this: we are drawn to him and we’ll never be separated from his love. Our Creator: beauty itself.

The only thing I wish to be bound to is the bright meadow of freedom.

Maybe every human fears, deep down,

that they are

unloveable.

Until they hear the whisper of

Love from the heavens.

You are worth redeeming

you are lovelier than a thousand mornings

I gave up everything to have you close

for you to know, you are loved.

And may we hear it

over and over

forever and forever.

Practical tips for your own spiritual journey:

  1. Be still, meditate, find quiet moments in a busy culture.

  2. Talk to God. Ask stuff. Be your honest self. Cry. Be angry.

  3. Listen (kinda simillar to the first one). Gods speaks.

  4. Hunger for Truth. If you ask for truth you will find truth.

  5. Spend time in nature.

  6. Pursue the beautiful.

  7. Buy a bible. Its THE bestselling book ever. (The book of John is my favourite and is profound!)

  8. Break up with self hatred. Speak kindly to yourself as that is how God is with us.

  9. Leave notes around your house that you are not alone, you are deeply loved, you are being taken care of by the beautiful Creator.

  10. Talk to other people who believe in God. It’s the most fun and fulfilling subject ever!
